Baby talk: The latest episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York showed Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries talking about having a child
They enjoyed a whirlwind romance getting married less than a year after they first met.
And just weeks after they became man and wife, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries agreed to try for a baby, just weeks before they split.
In tonight’s episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York the newlyweds were seen discussing their plans to expand their family, but it soon became clear they were on very different pages.
During on conversation the couple decided to start a family and initially both Kim and Kris were excited by the prospect.
Kim explained: ‘I feel like your life really stars when you start have kids.’
She was seen asking her basketball husband how he felt about starting a family and while he initially described the conversation as ‘weird’, he soon came around to the idea.
Serious stuff: Kris appears to be apprehensive about the discussion and at first doesn't appear to be on side
We're having a baby: The couple, who have now separated, were seen agreeing to start trying for a child
He told Kim: ‘Alright, let’s do it. I’m excited, I really want to.’
But just minutes later the couple were faced with the realisation that their ideas of how to raise a child differed greatly.
After speaking to her mother Kris Jenner, who told Kim she wasn’t ‘prepared’ to have children, the reality star confronted her husband about where he would want to live.
I'm going to be a dad: Kris was seen heading out to dinner with friends and he couldn't wait to share the news he and Kim had decided to have a child
Reservations: While Kim was excited about the news she was going to come off birth control when she told her mother Kris Jenner, the Kardashian matriach said she wasn't ready
She asked him: ‘Where do you think that we are going to raise kids.’
While Kris admitted he wanted to bring his offspring off in his hometown in Minnesota it was clear Kim was not on board.
Feeling broody? Kim was seen playing with her nephew Mason and talking about how much she wants children
Different pages: Kris and Kim are seen having another chat which leads to an argument when they realise they have different expectations of how to raise a child
She told him: ‘I want my kids to grow up with my sisters kids, they could spend a month in the summer in Minnesota.’
She then told him bluntly: ‘I’m not moving to Minnesota.’
Location problems: Kris told Kim he wanted to raise a child in Minnesota while his wife explained that she would never move there
As the pair’s discussion began heating up it became clear that Kim had not factored in that she might have to reduce her work commitments should she fall pregnant.
Kris told her: ‘I think you need to cut out some of that stuff,’ he added ‘I am not having a nanny spend the majority of the time with our child.’
Speaking to the camera Kim told viewers: ‘ I can’t believe Kris would be expecting me to slow down.’
Frank advice: Kim is seen asking advice from her friend LaLa who is married and has a child with a basketball player, but her friend tells her to wait before having children
Uncle Kris? While Kim goes off the idea Kris is seen talking to Scott about Mason and becomes convinced that he and Kim should start a family
The camera cut back to their conversation and Kris told her: ‘Baby by the time you had kids and they are in school no one will really care about you.’
As the couple took time to cool off and discuss the idea of parenthood with their family and friends Kim and Kris came to very different conclusions.
Kim is seen heading for dinner with a friend named La La who discouraged her about starting a family so soon.
Bubble talk: Kris is seen talking to Kim in the bath and telling her how much he wanted to start a family with her
Keeping quiet: While Kris tells her he wants children now Kim doesn't reveal that she has changed her mind about children
She told Kim: ‘I think it’s too fast. I thought you would enjoy being married first.’
LaLa, who is also married to a basketball player and who has a child, also described how hard it was juggling two careers, travel and a baby.
Kim left the lunch convinced she needed to wait before starting a family but Kris had other ideas after speaking to Scott Disick.
Sneaky: Kim was seen taking her birth control pill but didn't tell Kris she had changed her mind
The sports star was seen sitting down with Scott as he was feeding Mason and Scott told him: ‘I never thought I would love fatherhood as much as I do.’
Kris told the camera that he felt ready to have children and said: ‘I am confident that Kim and I can handle it.’
But the more Kris became excited about the prospect of becoming a father the more Kim was against the idea.
The show was filmed when Kris and Kim were still together, but just 72 days after their nuptials, Kim filed for divorce.
Kris is now seeking an annulment and last week he gave an awkward interview on Good Morning America, where he deflected questions about his estranged wife.
