Keeping it in the family: The whole Kardashian clan were mercilessly mocked on Saturday Night Luive last night

It is an American comedy institution known for its biting satire of current events.

So it is no surprise the stars of Saturday Night Live decided they would get plenty of easy laughs spoofing Kim Kardashian's divorce.

It starts with a brief flashback to the wedding, before Kim announces: 'Whoopsies, I got divorced.'

The skit, which is hilariously named Kim's Fairytale Divorce, takes pops at the whole Kardashian clan.

Kim, who is played by Nasim Pedrad, is mocked due to her taste in men and her craving for attention.

She said: 'You guys, it has been really hard. All week we’ve just been crying and crying and posing and crying.

Is that Kim? Nasim Pedrad performed an uncannily accurate impression of the reality star as part of the spoof

Wiig wow: Kristen also nailed her attempt at mimicking her namesake Kris Jenner on the show

'Marriages are hard, and it turns out Kris was only half the man I wanted him to be. And by that, I mean he was only half black.'

But her character adds that things are sure to look up, adding: 'But things are looking up for me.I’m single and there’s an NBA lockout. Wink.”

Her mother Kris Jenner, played by Kristen Wiig, is also given a spot-on ribbing, and is shown to struggle to shed a tear at the wedding.

Tearing up: The send up showed Kris desperately trying to shed a tear on her daughter's wedding day

Not so sharp: Andy Samberg's version of Kris Humphries struggled to string a few words together

Frozen face: Comic Taran Killam's rendition of Bruce Jenner found it impossible to move his facial muscles

Her spoof character reveals: 'Can you believe I have a daughter old enough to be getting divorced? no you can't because my surgery's worked.

I know a lot of people say Kim got married just to make over $17 million from the wedding.

'But that's not true -- she also got married for attention.

'What do I have to do to get attention, kill somebody?'

There is then a flashback to the wedding, where an apelike Kris Humphries, played by Andy Samberg, struggles to sign an X instead of his name on the marriage certificate.

Her stepfather is also mocked by Taran Killam, who ridicules Bruce Jenner's facelift by showing he cannot move his face.

But it was not the only skit where they were mocked, as during Weekend Update Seth Meyers said: 'Kim Kardashian on Monday filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of three episodes.'

Fairytale moment: Of course the spoof had a typically crass title that poked fun at the over-the-top real life drama
