Angie, who received her pilot's licence in 2005, sat in the pilot's seat while her son sat in the back.
Her outfit didn't scream aviation attire bust she looked stylish in the grey maxi-dress and black blazer.
Luckily she opted for a sensible pair of flat shoes. Her trademark aviator sunglasses were fitting.
Maddox isn't the only lucky child to get a plane ride with his mother.
Shiloh, five, was spotted strapped in the back of a small aircraft last year in Los Angeles.
It was reported at the time that Angelina had already promised the little girl flying lessons of her own.
Her other children won't be jealous though - their mother took them to Legoland in Windsor this week.
Their father Brad, 47, is in the U.S. after he flew out to attend the premiere of Moneyball in Oakland, California.
The family have made the UK their temporary home while Brad films his blockbuster World War Z.
He and Angelina spent some last-minute alone time over the weekend with lunch in London without their children.
Brad also found time to visit the Ellen show during his quick trip and discussed family life and the possibility of marriage.
Despite Angelina recently hinting that a wedding could be on the cards after the children started asking for them to tie the knot, Brad told Ellen DeGeneres that they still want to wait until gay marriage is legalised across the US.
Mind the head! The instructor lifts Maddox into the backseat of the plane as his movie star mother adjusts her seat
Seasoned pro: Angelina climbs into the plane as the instructor looks on
Are you ready? Angelina looked happy rather than nervous as she was strapped into her seat by the instructor
Meanwhile, Brad told Parade magazine that he 'wasn't living an interesting life' before meeting Angelina, and that he was 'trying to pretend' that his time with Jennifer Anistonwas 'something that it wasn't'.
The father-of-six later released a statement claiming that his words had been misunderstood, and described his ex-wife as 'an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman'.
He has continued to backtrack since, telling the Today Show this morning: 'She's good people. She, you know, there, there should be a statute of limitations on this.'
No fear: Angelina Jolie flew low over water in Surrey
Up, up and away: The small plane leaves the airfield with Maddox and his famous mother inside
