Different channel, same old show! Jonathan Ross stuck to the same formula with his new Friday night show in ITV1 last night

He stunned fans earlier this year when he announced he would be moving from BBC to ITV for the new series of his chat show.

But it seems that while the set is new, Ross has stuck to the same formula for the new programme.

Last night's debut episode was met with mixed responses from fans, some of whom criticised him for not changing things more, and some praising him for sticking to what he does best.

One fan joked on Twitter: 'Glad to see jonathan ross is back, there's something very unsatisfying about tv hosts who can pronounce their R's.'

And another added: 'The Jonathan Ross Show was as hilarious as always, had a fabulous guests and it was a great piece of telly! Totally loved it!'

But others commented they were finding the advert breaks during the programme hard to accept after Ross' previous show on the BBC.

One tweeted: 'Jonathan Ross with advert breaks. Who'd have thought it eh?'
And another added: 'Was so shocked when the Jonathan Ross show went to an ad break.
'It's not the same on itv.'

Muted: Ross wore a navy blue suit, white shirt and black tie for his inaugural ITV outing

As it was: The new set is in sharp contrast to the colourful, psychedelic set on Ross' previous BBC show

One fan wrote that they were unimpressed with Ross' interviewing skills, explaining: '#LOVE Adele - but detest Jonathan Ross - not done a decent interview in donkeys years - new talent needed seriously me thinks!'

Many fans also took to Twitter to complain that Ross' house band, Four Poofs And A Piano, had not been invited to joint he show on ITV.

One wrote: 'The new Jonathan Ross Show has a great big set but I miss '4 poofs and a piano'.'

Celebrity guests: Ross was joined by Adele, Lewis Hamilton and Sarah Jessica Parker on his first show

And another added: 'Jonathan Ross is not as good on ITV. Where are the Four Poofs.'

Ross appeared relatively calm and relaxed as he presented his first show, interviewing guests Sarah Jessica Parker, Adele and Lewis Hamilton.

However, in an interview on Daybreak earlier this week, Ross admitted he was feeling nervous about the reaction to the show before they filmed it.

Where did they go? Many fans took to Twitter to complain that Ross' previous house band, Four Poofs And A Piano (seen here with Matt Lucas and David Walliams, were not on the new show

He said: 'I was nervous, I’ll be honest with you, I was kind of more nervous than I’ve been for years about something.

'I don’t know why I was so nervous, maybe it’s because I wanted to work for the guys here and I want it to be good for me and for the audience, obviously.

'But once we went out there and started doing it - and the audience were so lovely and so supportive - it just felt great.'

Next week's Jonathan Ross show will see interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Alan Carr.
