Forget the two gold medals, tonight Laura Trott picked up the real prize for her Olympic achievement - a date with a prince.

Twenty four hours after she won the women's omnium - her second triumph of London 2012 - the 20-year-old was invited to join Prince Harry at the final of the women's beach volleyball competition.

And the pair got on like a house on fire, laughing and joking together as they watched the final medal matches in Horse Guards Parade.

In a matter of days, Trott, from Cheshunt, Herts, has been catapulted from a relative unknown to one of Britain's most famous Olympians.

But she looked at ease with the trappings of her newfound fame, grinning and swigging beer as she exchanged jokes with Harry.

On the court, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States won gold in the all-American final.

The duo claimed their third consecutive Olympic title after they defeated number six seeds Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in straight sets.

In the earlier bronze medal match, Brazil's Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca staged a dazzling comeback to beat China's Xue Chen and Zhang Xi after being within two points of losing.

Juliana and Larissa, the reigning world champions, arrived in London as the favourites but their dreams of gold unravelled when they were upset in the semi-finals by Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross on Tuesday.

Fearne Cotton has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

The radio and TV presenter has taken to Twitter to announce the 'happy news' that she's due to give birth to boyfriend Jesse Wood's child later this year.

She wrote on Twitter: 'Jesse and I have some news!!!!!'

Fearne, 30, then posted a link to her website with a statement which read: 'Jesse and I are very happy to announce we are having a baby.

'We are over the moon, morning sickness aside (me, not Jess) and looking forward to the little Cotton Woods arrival.'

Cotton has been dating Jesse, who is the son of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, since last July.

The Radio 1 DJ has spoken of her delight at her relationship with Wood after a tempestuous on-off romance with former fiancé Jesse Jenkins.

She dated the Californian skateboarder for three years before their split last year and started dating Wood just two months after they broke up.

Speaking in May, Miss Cotton, a former children’s television presenter, admitted: ‘This time last year, I was probably quite miserable, but Jesse turned that around. I’m content for the first time ever - it’s a really good feeling.’

Guitarist Ronnie, 65, has also given his seal of approval, saying: ‘Fearne’s a beautiful girl. They’re lovely together. I met her when she came to a Faces gig with Jesse at Cornbury Festival. I very much approve.

‘She’s rock ‘n’ roll. I do wonder if she’ll become my daughter-in-law any time soon.’

While Miss Cotton’s best friend, and TV presenter, Holly Willoughby - a mother-of-two- also approves, as Miss Cotton said: ‘She’s actually really happy for me. In fact, I don’t think she’s ever been so pleased for me.’

Wood, a former model and musician, has had his fair share of troubles.

In January last year, his father revealed he had been’ going through rehab.’

Veteran guitarist Ronnie - who himself has had seven stints in rehab during a three decade long battle against drink and drugs - told how his had been receiving treatment.

Wood’s mother was Ronnie’s first wife, former model Krissy Findlay.

The Mail Online contacted her publicist earlier this evening requesting confirmation of the pregnancy but were told they wouldn't comment on whether she was expecting or not.

His little girl is flying out to Los Angeles with her mother for the next few weeks, so who could blame Ben Foden for wanting to make the most of his cuddles with Aoife Belle before she jetted off?

She has had an incredibly difficult few days, following a scare yesterday which saw her visit the hospital for an emergency scan.

And things went from bad to worse for pregnant Imogen Thomas overnight, with the former reality TV star having to visit the hospital again today after suffering more bleeding during the night.

A spokesperson for Imogen, 29, said she had made the decision to visit the hospital because she was concerned for the wellbeing of her baby, but added that 'everything is fine'.

She told MailOnline: 'Imogen was naturally distressed by the bleeding and immediately went to the hospital where she had another scan and everything is fine.'

And after the hospital visit, Imogen, who was dressed casually in a grey vest top and pink jogging bottoms, was left even more angry when she returned to her car to find that she had been issued a parking ticket.

Following the incident, Imogen took to her Twitter page to express her anger at receiving the fine.

The 24-year-old unveiled a dramatic wardrobe transformation when she performed a gig at London’s Roundhouse venue a few days ago.

Wearing a shimmering Vivienne Westwood dress offset with matching strappy sandals, the singer couldn’t have looked more different from her edgy style of old.

She had also replaced her trademark stiff, black bob with flowing Hollywood-style hair extensions.

And neutral coloured make-up was applied in place of the heavy black eye shadow and overly bright lipsticks for which she is famous.

It is believed the 24-year old has decided to freshen up her style team and has parted company with her long-term stylist Karl Willet.

The Price Tag singer hired Cobbie after meeting him on The Voice, where he was on set to dress his brother Reggie, who co-hosted on the BBC talent show earlier this year.

The friend said: ‘Jessie has worked with Karl for a long time but she decided it’s time for a change and she gave him the elbow’.

Mr Willett is said to have put out an email last week confirming the pair had parted company, after long running rumours in the industry of a professional rift.

And in the interview Jessie also admitted that she thinks her block black hair colour is a little too much.

We have been waiting with bated breath for the first picture of Kourtney Kardashian's daughter Penelope.

And now Kourtney has delighted her millions of fans worldwide by introducing her gorgeous little girl on the front of Us Weekly magazine.

In the accompanying interview, Kourtney, who is also mother to two-year-old son Mason with boyfriend Scott Disick, said she was entirely unprepared for the amount of love she would feel for her newborn daughter.

Macaulay's spokesperson was forced to deny claims published by the National Enquirer last week that the Uncle Buck star has a $6,000-a-month drug habit.

His representatives branded the US tabloid article 'ridiculously fictitious' and 'insulting'.

The allegations said he regularly shoots up heroin and addictive painkiller oxycodone (dubbed hillbilly heroin).

The Enquirer claims Culkin's alleged drug use intensified 18 months ago - around the time he split from long-term girlfriend Kunis, who is now dating Ashton Kutcher.

She said: ‘I’m convinced I am having a girl because I can’t stop being sick and eating potatoes of all descriptions, my mum had the same symptoms with me.’

Imogen’s mother guessed her daughter could be pregnant when the reality TV star couldn’t stop crying at a family Christening.

Although Imogen admits she was drunk on gin at the time which always makes her emotional, her mother’s question made her get a pregnancy test.

While Imogen and Adam have only been together for a short time she isn’t worried, explaining she has been ready for motherhood for some time.

While her pregnancy is going smoothly now, Imogen had a terrifying scare at the six-week stage when she starting bleeding and needed an emergency scan.

Luckily everything was fine and she is now relieved to have made it to the 12-week mark where she can share her joy with the world.
