Noel Gallagher mocked his estranged brother Liam for performing a cover of their Oasis song Wonderwall the Olympics Closing Ceremony.

Two days after his brother performing their big hit with his new band Beady Eye, the eldest Gallagher, 45, sang his own version.

Speaking on-stage at a Warchild gig at Dingwalls in London last night, Noel dedicated the song to 'Stratford's finest tribute band'.

As the main songwriter of Oasis, Noel was responsible for writing their massive Wonderwall.

So it must have been strange to see his brother performing it with his new band at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday night.

Liam sang the track just after the Spice Girls, but came under criticism from Twitter for sounding 'nasally', with many viewers asking if he had a cold.

Didn't Noel write that song? Liam performed the Oasis classic with his current band Beady Eye

Introducing Wonderwall - which hit No.2 in the UK singles charts in 1995 - at the Camden club, Noel said: 'I know this is gonna be difficult for you, but if you can't sing along to this next song, it's because it sounds different when I sing it ... I'd like to dedicate this to Stratford's finest Oasis tribute band.'

He also dedicated Supersonic - Oasis's debut single - to double Team GB gold medal runner Mo Farah.

He said: 'I'm gonna dedicate this song to the great Mo Farah.'

Strained: The brothers frequently fought during their time in Oasis before splitting in 2009

Noel and Liam have barely spoken since Oasis disbanded in 2009 following years of arguments.

They often trade barbs in the press, with Liam last year filing papers to sue Noel after the latter claimed his brother's 'hangover' was the reason they pulled out of the V Festival in Chelmsford in 2009.

Even though Noel apologised, Liam has launched a libel action against him which is ongoing.

In the papers filed in his defence, lodged on November 1 last year, Noel makes a string of allegations against his younger brother.

He claims before he quit the band in August 2009, the brothers were not talking after Noel refused to allow 'free advertising' for Liam's clothing range Pretty Green in the band's promotional material.
