Knee bother: Chaz Bono has revealed his mother Cher is giving him access to her team of physical therapists to help him get through Dancing With The Stars

There were doubts about how supportive Cher was being towards her transgender son Chaz Bono.

But the Dancing With The Stars contestant has revealed he has been getting some special treatment from his mother to help him compete on the show.

The Moonstruck star has been sending her team of physical therapists to help him dance through the pain of his sore knees, which forced Lacey Schwimmer to change the choreography of their quickstep.

But it seems Chaz wishes he could turn back time to regain some of his youthful vigour, if his comments are anything to go by

He said: 'Yeah, she's been helping out and has been sending some of the people who work on her when she's dancing and doing her shows.

'Things get blown out of proportion. I didn't have an injury or a tear or a rip or a break or anything.

'It's just literally I'm a 42-year-old guy who's overweight and who went from not dancing to dancing hours a day.'

Getting strong now: The weight is dropping off Chaz thanks to intensive dancing

Chaz was spotted looking tired after another exhausting day of dance practice in Hollywood yesterday, and had no doubt given his tender spots another pounding.

He wore his trademark vest and shorts combo, and appeared noticeably trimmer than a few months ago.

And while eyebrows have been raised since the singer and actress has not attended the show yet, she is supposedly glued to the show at home and seems to believe in her son.

Chaz said: 'You know, that's up to her. It doesn't have a lot to do with me.
'She does her own thing, she watches.

'As soon as the show's over, I get pages and pages of texts from her. It's crazy.'

Happy camper: David Arquette was in a good mood after being put through his dancing paces yesterday

Davy in red: The actor wore a particularly eye-catching pair of trousers

And the Oscar-winner is even running up her phone-bill by voting for the former lesbian.

He said: 'She's voting too. Everybody's voting! We've got so many people voting, it's just great.'

But even though his mother is helping him with her therapists and the fact he is suffering from chronic pain, Chaz insisted his knees are fine.

He said: 'My doctor doesn't seem terribly worried.

'They're feeling pretty good right now. Nothing's wrong with them.

'I've been icing them and massaging, a little physical therapy.'

Ballroom belles: Kristin Cavallari and Chyna Phillips were also working hard

However Cher's former daughter, who completed the transition to being a man in 2010 after undergoing two years of therapy, admitted it is difficult to keep on top of his demanding schedule.

He said: 'It's a matter of your body just kind of getting used to being pounded on all the time.

'It's the kind of stuff athletes go through where things get inflamed and you don't have time to let it calm down. So it's hard.

You're constantly battling swelling and soreness, but that's all it is.'

And he revealed the weight had dropped off thanks to his new regime.

He said: 'I have [lost weight] — I think about 12 pounds or so.'

If Chaz is to win the contest outright he has some stiff competition.

David Arquette was smiling yesterday after putting in more hard work on the dance floor.

Chyna Phillips and Kristin Cavallari were also working on their routines for this week.
