Brooding: Conan the Barbarian star Jason Momoa arrived into Los Angeles LAX Airport today ahead of tonight's Hollywood premiere of his new movie

He's packed on 20lbs of lean muscle to play the role, bulking out his already-hulking frame.

So it's fair to say that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played the original film role of Conan the Barbarian, has some hot competition in the form of his successor, Jason Momoa.

Comfort first: The 32-year-old actor was dressed casually in grey trousers and a V-neck T-shirt which showed off his muscular physique

The 32-year-old actor was pictured arriving into Los Angeles LAX Airport this morning ahead of tonight's Hollywood premiere of the rebooted sword and sorcery epic, where he plays the titular role of the Marvel Comics character.

Dressed casually in grey trousers and V-neck white T-shirt, the brooding Game of Thrones star was seen making his way through the airport.

He teamed his outfit with a hat and was carrying a pillow, proving that even sword-wielding savages value their comfort.

Hawaiian-born Momoa will be seen in 3D in the remake of Arnie's 1982 effort.

Time with the fans: The actor packed on 20lbs of muscle to play the Marvel Comics character

While the actor has worked hard on beefing up his physique, putting in six hours of training a day to play the part, he didn't quite manage to get the bulging biceps of Schwarzenegger.

The 6ft4 actor said: 'We do two hours of sword work first ... then have a little break, eat a broiled chicken, do two hours of weight lifting and have cardio.

'Then I'd go home and basically the best thing I could do is sleep and rest.'

Mean and lean: Jason in character and Conan and, right, Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1982 film

The plot seen Conan venture into an unforgiving world after his father is murdered and village destroyed by a rival tribe.

The movie, directed by Marcus Nispel, also stars Rose McGowan, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Bob Sapp and Rachel Nichols.

The film will be released in the U.S. on August 19 and then on August 26 in the UK.
