On reaching their half a century, some women will splash out on a designer frock, expensive shoes or even a luxury holiday.
But Kay Burley decided to celebrate her milestone birthday by turning back the clock and going under the knife.
The Sky News presenter has revealed that she had a subtle procedure on her face, 10 years after she first had cosmetic surgery when she turned 40.
Giving Mother Nature a boost: Kay Burley showed off the results of her second cosmetic procedure on her face as she reported on the London riots last week
And she clearly had some very subtle changes made as at first glance it would appear that she hasn't had anything done at all.
Kay turned 50 in December and sources said that she had the procedure done in the middle of June.
Comparing how she looked in February to a picture taken of her last week, her chin looked slightly tauter and the lines under her eyes appear to have softened.
Today, the anchorwoman said: 'Mother Nature needed a helping hand. It certainly isn't a secret. If people can't tell the difference, I've done my money!'
And cosmetic surgeon Alex Karidis told the Mirror that the before and after pictures were not that dramatically different but he could see the subtle changes.
Can you tell the difference? Kay in February - her jaw line shows a slight jowl and the lines under her eyes are more noticable
He said: 'It looks like she’s had some tightening along the jawline to redefine it and make it look less slack.
'There was a slight jowl before, but that’s softened and much more clean. Also, the nose to mouth lines are not as evident now.
'But that could be injectable fillers. The collagen content decreases when we get older and the lips can thin out, so you can get fillers put in.'
Kay, who has worked for Sky since 1998, first had work done in 2001 after she turned 40 but denied it had anything to do with the pressures of being in front of the camera.
She said: 'I’ve signed a new contract so I’m not anxious at all about my job. I had my eyes done for myself – it was nothing to do with my career.
'As long as you can identify with who’s reading the news it doesn’t matter if they’re 22 or 52.
And on the possibility of further cosmetic work, she added: 'Never say never.'
