Newlyweds: Darius Campbell and Natasha Henstridge married in secret with just her sons Tristen and Asher at the ceremony

After a seven-year relationship, three years of which spent engaged, their family, friends and fans have been eagerly waiting for them to tie the knot.

And last month, on Valentine's Day, Darius Campbell finally made an honest woman of his actress fiancée Natasha Henstridge.

But the couple decided to keep quiet and steal away for a romantic secret ceremony in California without telling their close friends or even their parents.

The only guests were her two sons who had been let in on the secret - and a glossy celebrity magazine Hello!

Former Popstars contestant Darius, 30, and Species star Natasha, 36, got married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara where the late former US President John F.

Kennedy spent his honeymoon with new bride Jackie in 1953 and Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier married in 1940.

But the couple, who met on a pedestrian crossing in 2004, decided to go and get hitched without telling anyone except her two sons Tristan, 12, and nine-year-old Asher.

The secret's out! Natasha and Darius were spotted out and about sporting wedding rings in Bel Air just a week after they got married

Speaking to the magazine, Canadian-born Natasha explained: 'We thought they wouldn't be bothered but they were super-excited and really wanted to be there.

'They kept it secret - I was very impressed. We didn't tell our parents for a few days afterwards. We wanted to be together and enjoy it for a while.

'It was really spontaneous. It was a very hard secret to keep!'

Darius added: 'No-one knew we were there and that sense of it just being for us was very exciting - it felt a little bit naughty and secretive.'

The newlyweds said it also would have been logistically and financially difficult to organise a huge wedding and invite family and friends who are all over the world in Scotland, Canada, London and Los Angeles.

Darius said: We realised with everyone's schedules it was easier to do something romantic and special just for us.'

Natasha added: 'It would have been expensive for our guests to come here.'

But they said that when they finally broke the news, both their parents were 'over the moon'.

Natasha said: 'Darius's family are super-close, but they were fine. His dad said it was time we got on with it!

'Where I'm from in Canada it is very low-key. I said we'd do a lobster-boil on Dad's boat and he was happy with that - we don't like things being too fluffy.'

The couple split up in January 2010 after work-commitments forced them apart but they were reunited after five months and almost immediately got engaged.

The couple live with Tristen and Asher in Los Angeles and they said they like to go hiking in the hills every day.

Natasha said: 'Each time Darius says, "I love my life". He's so genuine. It's very sweet.'

Special guests: Natasha said her sons Tristen and Asher, who are now 12 and nine, were 'super-excited' about the wedding and she was impressed they kept it secret
