Getting on board: Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnell pose at the launch party for 'O - The Oprah Magazine' in New York back in 2000
Rosie O'Donnell is set to host a new show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN channel.
The actress and comedian will base the new hour-long talk show at Oprah Winfrey's soon-to-be vacated space at Harpo Studios in Chicago.
It will start airing this autumn, with Oprah today saying in a statement that she was 'delighted' Rosie was joining the network.
'I'm delighted to welcome Rosie to the studio I've called home for so many years,' said Winfrey, who has announced her final show will be on May 25, ending her 25-year run as the queen of daytime talk.
Winfrey's OWN cable television network debuted January 1 in about 80 million homes.
O'Donnell, 49, who is also an author and activist, won six Daytime Emmy awards for her syndicated TV talk show that ran from 1996 to 2002.
'Harpo is a world class studio and I can't wait to do my show from Chicago,' O'Donnell said in a statement. 'It's a dream come true.'
O'Donnell currently hosts a two-hour radio show, Rosie Radio, on Sirius XM Radio.
She squabbled with co-host Barbara Walters during a brief stint on ABC's The View, on which she appeared after Meredith Vieira left the show and before Whoopi Goldberg joined.
Besides producing The Oprah Winfrey Show, Harpo Studios helped develop the shows Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray.
The studio also produces The Dr. Oz Show and The Nate Berkus Show.
'Speaking from experience, she will be working with the best team in television in one of the greatest cities in the world,' Winfrey said.
A new set will be built for O'Donnell while some elements of Winfrey's stage set will go to the Smithsonian Institution, the studio said.
There has been concern in Chicago about the fate of Harpo's near West Side studios and those employees who do not join Winfrey in California.

Jennifer Aniston is taking a break from the hair and make-up chair and is heading behind the camera in a director's role.
The 42-year-old actress is set to direct a short film about breast cancer as as part of the Lifetime Project Five anthology series.
The former Friends star will join Alicia Keys, Demi Moore and Monster and Entourage director Patty Jenkins.
A fifth director will join the team for the five-part series but the name has yet to be announced.
'Our hope with Project Five is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research and prevention. Otherwise, our goals are small', Jennifer told Us Weekly.
She added: 'We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are.'
Last year Aniston spoke about her desire to move behind the camera.
She said: 'I have a project in development I'm going to direct. After you get enough movies under your belt you sit back and go, "What's next?" It's getting to a time where creatively I want to turn in a different direction.'
Four years ago, Aniston was one of a group of celebrities who took part in Glamour's Reel Moments film series and directed the Robin Wright Penn and Kris Kristofferson short Room 10 about a moody nurse who throws herself into her work to avoid her problems at home.
Aniston has also produced three movies - Management, The Switch and the upcoming The Goree Girls.

Is that you, Kim? Miss Kardashian broke away from her heels and big hair in flat boots and a hat as she flew out of New York yesterday
Either she's got a painful blister, the balls of her feet have had enough or she wasn't feeling very well.
And while it may be none of the above at all, it still came as a surprise to see Kim Kardashian wearing flat heels.
The likely reason was that she had a flight to catch and wanted to stay comfortable - not that that's ever stopped her wearing sky high heels on a plane before.
But there's always a first time for everything and maybe she just wanted to keep her designer stilettos safely packed until the occasion calls for them.
Kim, 30, also kept her long, thick wavy dark tresses hidden beneath a woolly hat, not cascading down her shoulders or - on casual days - in a sexy ponytail.
Kim was jetting out of New York - where she has been staying this weekend - and heading for Chicago.
Still looks stunning: Even in her casual attire, Kim still managed to look effortlessly chic
She had a meeting this morning at the headquarters of Sears, a department store chain in the US.
Kim is launching a fashion line, the Kardashian Kollection, with sisters Khloe and Kourtney, in August.
But today she was flying solo as she met with bosses to discuss the range.
Business flight: Kim was jetting to Chicago where she had a meeting with Sears to discuss her and her sister's upcoming fashion line
And she took to her Twitter page this morning and wrote: 'Early morning glam! I have such an exciting day at the Sears head quarters! Have a great productive day! Xo'
Kim arrived in New York on Friday for a trip to the Big Apple to accompany her younger sister Kendall Jenner on a photo shoot.
She also found time to catch up with her boyfriend, New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries.
Love is in the air: Being a foot taller than his new lady, New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries had to bend down to talk to Kim as they strolled round New York
Comeback: Adam Ant announced his Greatest Hits tour with new band The Good, The Bad and the Lovely Posse, to begin in May, in London today
Eighties sensation Adam Ant is making a comeback with his first tour in 15 years.
The Stand And Deliver and Prince Charming hitmaker appeared onstage at the Under The Bridge club in Chelsea today to announce his new act, The Good, The Mad And The Lovely Posse, which will embark on a UK Greatest Hits tour in May.
And the singer - once voted sexiest man in America - will be joined by Georgina Baillie, the dancer and model who was at the centre of the Sachsgate scandal.
The 56-year-old said today: 'I'm really looking forward to it.'
Ant - real name Stuart Goddard - said he was returning to performing because, 'I missed it - that's what I do. And the money.'
Ant will play a 15-date tour starting in Brighton on May 16 which includes Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Liverpool.
He said these days he got more of a buzz out of performing 'now I know what I'm doing.'
The Good, the Bad and the Lovely Posse: Sachsgate girl Georgina Baillie (far left) is touring with the Eighties singer
Georgina Baillie, who also lends her voice to Ant's upcoming album, apparently to be titled Adam Ant is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter, provides backing vocals on the tour along with Georgina Leahy.
Baillie, 25, is the granddaughter of actor Andrew Sachs and was the subject of crude messages from Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross which were played on Radio 2 in 2008.
The incident - known as 'Sachsgate' caused a furore and led to Brand and the station controller resigning. It also contributed to Ross leaving the BBC last year.
In recent years Ant has made headlines for his mental health problems. In 2002, he threatened drinkers at a North London pub with an imitation pistol, but escaped a jail term on the grounds of mental illness.
In 2009 Ant, who has dated Jamie Lee Curtis and Heather Graham, said that he intended to make a comeback for the sake of his daughter Lily, now 14.
‘She has never seen Adam perform and doesn’t know what The Ants were all about,’ he said at the time.
Eighties hitmaker: The 56-year-old has said previously that he wants to make a comeback because his daughter Lily has never seen him perform
‘I’ve had this lifelong battle against manic depression, but I’ve had to overcome it for her sake. Times got bad. I lost my mind. But I’m back.’
He says his problems began when he got married – ‘too young’ – at 21. ‘I tried to commit suicide with an overdose,’ he's admitted previously.
‘After I broke up the band, I went to America to try to make it there, and a crazy woman started stalking me. That sent me over the edge again, and I did time in a Miami psychiatric clinic.’
Moving on: Lindsay Lohan gets a visit from old friend and celebrity broker Claus Hjelmbak at her rented Venice, California home yesterday
Perhaps she was trying to make a point, but it was Lindsay Lohan couldn't stop smiling yesterday.
Whatever the reason, she certainly didn't seem upset that her ex-girlfriend has moved on with a new relationship.
Pictures surfaced last week of Samantha Ronson, who Lohan dated for a year, passionately kissing yoga instructor Tiffany Russo.
But Lindsay appeared in great spirits as she posed with her friend Claus Hjelmbak, a celebrity broker, at her Venice, California home.
Wearing black shorts and a patterned pink top, the 24-year-old Mean Girls star flashed a peace sign and held her long blonde hair back off her face.
She smiled and joked with the Danish born businessman on the front patio of her house.
Later in the day, Lindsay joined her brother Michael Jr aboard a private jet heading back to New York.
The trips comes after she refused a plea deal from a Los Angeles judge in a theft case that would have sent her to jail.
Glowing: The actress appeared happy and relaxed as she posed with her friend in front of the house
New love: Michael Lohan tweeted pictures of his new girlfriend, who he named only as Bernadette

Lunch date: He met the young brunette on the beach in Florida
The Mean Girls star intends to fight a case filed over a $2,500 necklace she has been accused of stealing from a high-end store in Venice, California and may find news her old flame has moved on extremely distressing.
Meanwhile, Lohan's father Michael tweeted pictures today of him with his new girlfriend, who he revealed was called Bernadette.
It comes just a week after splitting with Kate Major, who he has been charged with assaulting.
'Bernadette is a nurse who I met at the beach in Florida,' Michael told RadarOnline.com.
'I'm here with her now but after I get back to Los Angeles, she's coming up to New York with me.'
Odd casting choice: Jennifer Garner is set to play amateur detective Miss Marple in a Disney reboot
When thinking about casting the part of an elderly spinster from a small English village who solves crimes in her spare time, Jennifer Garner is not the first name that one would expect to come to mind.
But the glamorous 38-year-old Hollywood actress has just been announced to star in a Disney reboot about the much-loved heroine of Agatha Christie's novels. The actress, best known for her roles as the catsuited superhero Elektra and in a slew of fluffy romantic comedies.
Jane Marple, the amateur sleuth from St. Mary Mead, is depicted as an elderly spinster, most famously by Margaret Rutherford in the 1960s film versions of Agatha Christie's 12 crime novels.
Angela Lansbury also played the iconic character in the 1980 film The Mirror Crack'd, while Joan Hickson took on the role for the BBC television movies.
Novelist Christie based the character on her own grandmother, recordings of the author discovered in 2008 revealed.
Another type of crime fighter: Jennifer Garner in her skimpy costume for 2005 action film Elektra
Miss Marple first appeared in print in 1927 in a story published in The Royal Magazine. The first novel based on the crime solver the Murder At The Vicarage in 1930, followed by 11 more novels.
Disney has hired Twin Peaks writer Mark Frost to transform the classic story for an American contemporary adaptation.
Icon: The character was most famously played by Margaret Rutherford in the 1960s films
Garner, who shot to fame in 2001 in TV series Alias, recently starred in another remake, Arthur, with Russell Brand and Helen Mirren.
She will be seen in comedy Butter alongside Hugh Jackman, House actress Olivia Wilde and Twilight star Ashley Greene next year, and is currently filming fantasy The Odd Life Of Timothy Green with Dianne West and Joel Edgerton.
Scandal: Hundreds of intimate photos of Christina Aguilera have been offered for sale after she left her memory card in a French hotel
Hundreds of intimate photos of Christina Aguilera have emerged after she apparently left her camera's memory card in a French hotel.
The images are said to show the singer in various intimate situations, including at Nicole Richie's bachelorette party and in bed with her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler.
The photos, dated from June to November last year, surfaced when they were offered for sale to a U.S. website by a man who alleged he had found the lost card in an upscale hotel.
The website claims to have seen the 'romantic' shots of 30-year-old Aguilera and Rutler.
A selection of images reportedly show the new couple kissing passionately in a variety of locations. Another shows them lying in bed together.
The couple met last year on the set of Burlesque, where Rutler worked as a set assistant. Aguilera split from her husband Jordan Bratman in October last year.
Fifteen of the shots show Aguilera at her friend Richie's bachelorette bash in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last September.
According to U.S. website Radar, which was offered the images for sale, they show her with flowers in her hair, smoking a cigar, drinking, and posing with the bride-to-be.
Richie is also allegedly pictured in a bikini near the beach with a blow-up male doll strapped to her, and drinking champagne.
The website also reports that images show Aguilera in a series of compromising poses, including mimicking oral sex on a banana, dancing on a table, posing with naked men, and posing for before-and-after make-up shots.
This is not the first time Aguilera has seen her private photos made public.
In December a series of images showing her in various stages of undress were published online.
The revelation of the new photos comes just a few weeks after Aguilera's arrest for public intoxication, with recent U.S. media reports saying the star’s friends have been encouraging her to enter rehab for some time.
A spokesman for Aguilera did not respond to a request for comment.

The screaming girls got their cameras ready as they clambered by his tour bus as security guards desperately tried to keep them back.
Beliebers: The young girls camped outside his hotel and tour bus and had their cameras poised ready to snap when their idol emerged
When the pint-sized pop star appeared, it was like a flashback to the 1960s at the height of Beatlemania.
Dressed in distressed black jeans, a purple T-shirt and black buttoned down sweater - Justin waved to his adoring fans as he made his way to his tour bus to travel to Bercy concert hall.
Bieber was surrounded by his entourage and security guards who walked behind him and either side of him to keep him safe.
I love him: Some of the girls were hysterical and sobbed when they could not believe their luck at laying eyes on the Baby star
Hysterical: The girls consoled each other as they watched Bieber walk out the hotel to go to perform at his concert tonight

Last month, Bieber hit out at the American healthcare system during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
He said: 'You guys are evil. Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills.
'My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.'
Bieber's My World tour originally started in the U.S. last June. He is now travelling around Europe, then Asia, Australasia and the Caribbean.
Accused: Charlie Sheen has accused ex-wife Denise Richards of stealing his two dogs (not believed to be the ones pictured under her arm in in the pet carrier yesterday)
Apart from an impromptu visit to a chat show, he's been lying low for a couple of weeks and has restrained from his daily live streaming video rant.
But clearly you can't keep Charlie Sheen quiet for too long and this time it's his ex-wife Denise Richards was on the receiving end of one of his bizarre tirades.
The fallen-from-grace actor took to his Twitter page yesterday to accuse the actress of stealing his pet dogs.
He wrote: 'We must bombard with Warlock Napalm, that traitor and loser w***e #DUH -neese POOR-ARD. A VILE KIDNAPPER AND NOW DOG THIEF. HATE.'
And he added: 'Like a Dinosaur Stampede from middle earth RAGING atop Col. Kilgore's main rotor, our assault must be EPIC. The Truth is our rocket fuel. c.'
Denise, who split from the actor in 2006 and has two daughters with him, is believed to have given Sheen the two dogs when they were separating so the animals could be with their girls when they visited him.
Upset: Richards didn't look very happy as she left a TV show shoot
But the actress denied she had stolen them back and according to E! Online, she only took them away after becoming concerned for their welfare at the start of his very public meltdown.
A source close to the actress said: 'When Denise saw the dogs a couple of months ago, they were in such bad shape, one of them died after Denise took it. She has one of them, and the other one died.'
Dog lover: Richards and a handful of her pets - the black and white dog on the far right is believed to be Lucy, the Boston Terrier that died last week
And although it is unclear what breeds the dogs were, last week, Richards took to her Twitter page to announce that their Boston Terrier Lucy had passed away.
She wrote: 'She was 12, had her since she was a pup. Been thru so much with me...we will miss her…'
Meanwhile, the source said that Sheen, who is believed to be in 'talks' with Fox about returning to Two and a Half Men, is not a 'dog lover' and Richards was just trying to 'save them'.
Napalm threat: Sheen took to his Twitter page to launch a rant against Richards over the missing dogs
Star couple: Katie Holmes was supported by her husband Tom Cruise at the premiere of her new TV series The Kennedys in Beverly Hills last night
A few months ago it looked like Katie Holmes's new mini-series The Kennedys would never see the light of day after an early avalanche of criticism.
But after being picked up by a rival U.S. network - when the History Channel backed out of buying the show - the show finally launched last night.
A delighted Katie Holmes brought along her husband for some extra star power - and even was spotted high-fiving her co-star Greg Kinnear at the Beverly Hills event.
Ready for my close up: Tom and Katie get ready to pucker up at the premiere
'You're doin' great': Tom whispers some words of encouragement to his wife on the red carpet
Perhaps the co-stars were saluting each other in celebration after the ReelzChannel picked up the U.S. broadcast rights.
The network said at the start of last month that it plans to show the mini-series between April 3 to April 10.
It came after a host of other U.S. channels declined to screen the programme. Last night's launch also came days after the announcement that The Kennedys will air on BBC2.
Public couple: The appetite for TomKat seems to be as strong as ever as the pair grin for an army of cameras
Strike a pose: Katie, wearing a simple aquamarine dress and nude sandals, stood in that odd pigeon-toed pose favoured by models
The eight-parter sees Katie as the then Jackie Kennedy and Greg as John F Kennedy . Despite being ditched by the History Channel, BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow said it was 'a perfect fit' for the channel.
The History Channel's parent company A&E Television Networks said the project, did not fit the 'History brand' because of liberties taken with actual events.
The real-life Kennedy family and associates were also said to be unhappy about the Jon Cassar-directed series, claiming its scripts were inaccurate and overly critical.
Hair raising: Tom tries his best 'blue steel' look as Katie towers above him
Golden girl: Katie's 'S' for Suri necklace
Still, Katie seems happy that the finished product is finally airing, as she smooched on the red carpet with her husband.
She was wearing a simple crochetd aquamarine dress with nude sandals and an 'S' for Suri necklace dedicated to her and Tom's daughter who's five next month.
Talking about the Kennedys project after it wrapped last year to magazine Us Weekly, fashion fan Katie said:
'It's been really fun! Her clothes were magnificent. I feel so lucky. We have these wonderful seamstresses who are creating beautiful dresses that are obviously replicas of real things she wore. Armani made two dresses for me to wear.'
That's a relief: She was seen high-fiving co-star Greg Kinnear, perhaps in celebration after the show eventually got some interest from a U.S. network
Duo: The Kennedys was originally going to be screened on the History Channel, but was dropped over 'historical inaccuracies' before ReelzChannel got the rights
'She not only had great style, but she was an artist and a writer,' Holmes added. 'She was an illustrator. She was an editor.
'Her great style was both appropriate for every event that she went to and also classic, and also things that were wearable. I feel really lucky to be playing her.'
Katie filmed some of her scenes as the iconic Jackie in Toronto, where she stayed with Tom and their daughter Suri as Tom shots the latest Mission Impossible movie.
Mission Impossible: The Ghost Protocol, which also stars Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, is now in post-production ready for its Christmas release this year.
Co-stars: Kinnear as former U.S. President John F. Kennedy while Holmes plays the role of his wife Jacqueline
